FAQ
Getting started with audiobooks
Where can I listen to audiobooks?
My pick is Libro.fm, an audiobook platform with memberships available internationally, Portugal included. You can listen in the iOS and Android app or download the full files to another device. In the video I also talk about other options I've tried, like Audible, Everand and Kobo Leya.
How does the three-audiobook offer on Libro.fm work?
As of 16 September 2026, the SWITCH offer gives you three credits instead of one in the first month of a new membership on the one-credit monthly plan. The link includes the offer. When you sign up, always check on the Libro.fm website that it still works and that “SWITCH offer applied” shows before you pay. It's a platform promotion and needs a paid membership. It doesn't apply to the two-credit monthly plan or the annual plan.
Do I need a membership to listen on Libro.fm?
You can buy audiobooks one at a time or join a membership with credits to exchange for books. The files are yours: you can download them DRM-free and keep them even if you cancel. The SWITCH offer needs a new membership on the one-credit monthly plan; if you've been a member before, check your eligibility with Libro.fm.
How does renewal work, and can I cancel?
After the first month, the plan carries on with one credit a month, billed monthly. Check the price and currency on the membership page. You can pause or cancel your monthly membership from your account and keep your audiobooks and unused credits. Credits don't expire.
How do I find audiobooks in my language?
On Libro.fm you can filter search results by language. Check the language and narration of each edition before you buy. Which titles are available depends on the rights set by publishers, and some books can't be bought with credits.
How do my purchases support independent bookshops?
You choose a Libro.fm partner bookshop and the platform shares the profits from your purchases and membership with it. I support Rosebud Bookshop, my favourite bookshop in Porto.
